A New Award for János Héder and Judit Zoltai.

Manooi has been deemed by the Design Management Award 2016 jury as being exemplary and worthy of recognition. The ceremony was held in the Museum of Applied Arts during the Budapest Design Week at the end of September where Judit Zoltai, the co-founder of Manooi recieved the certificate of merit.

The very first vertically suspended Halo chandelier composition has been made in our manufactory. We are amazed by the result.

Halo was presented at the Light and Building trade fair in Frankfurt this year. The new product of the Manooi collection designed by János Héder gets his name from the optical phenomenon that one can sometimes observe in the sky, forming a circle encompassing the Sun or occasionally the Moon. It forms as the sunlight is refracted in millions of randomly oriented hexagonal ice crystals suspended in the atmosphere.

Halo combines modern, high-quality LED as light source, directed outwards along the lamp curve, and the most luxurious crystal brand, Swarovski. This unique piece reminds us of the excellent capacity and phenomena that light can create. Whether arranged in horizontal, vertically or angled position, Halo will be a real eye-catcher when different diameters are combined. Suitable for open space or close to a ceiling, Halo is perfect for hotel lobbies, office receptions or even private residences. In fact, there are no limitations as to where Halo can be positioned due to the variety of diameter or the many composition possibilities with various rings suspended at different distances from one to the other.

Halo was presented at the Light+Building trade fair in Frankfurt in 2016. This modern stlye chandelier of the Personal Universe collection was designed by János Héder and was named after the optical phenomenon that one can sometimes observe in the sky, forming a circle encompassing the Sun or occasionally the Moon. It forms as the sunlight is refracted in millions of randomly oriented hexagonal ice crystals suspended in the atmosphere.

With his years of experience as an interior designer, János knows the difficulties one encounter when designing an interior and so always creates his design with the perspective to solving those problems.

János design Halo with the intention to keep an apparent insubstantiality by using a minimum of matter without ever compromising with the quality and the effect rendered. The Manooi Halo combined modern, high-quality LED as light source, directed outwards along the lamp curve, and the most luxurious crystal brand- Swarovski. This unique piece reminds us of the excellent capacity and phenomena that light can create. Every crystal is carefully assembled as small branches, emerging like light beams that would be cover with frost and diffracting the light into thousands of sparkles.

Whether arranged in horizontal or angled position, Halo will be a real eye-catcher when different diameters are combined. Suitable for open space or close to a ceiling, Halo is perfect for hotel lobbies, office receptions or even private residences. In fact, there are no limitations as to where Halo can be positioned due to the variety of diameter or the many composition possibilities with various rings suspended at different distances from one to the other.

And thanks to its light and minimal design you can be sure of always being elegant but never overpowering the interior design.

In the beginning, when he was creating Manooi’s 2005 debut collection, the concept that János Héder had wanted to capture with his first lighting product was that of two galaxies embracing each other. After making and rejecting dozens of designs, he found his perfect shape. He named it ‘Artica’. The Artica chandelier has since become an iconic symbol of the Manooi brand, its distinctive ellipse recognized around the world.

Swarovski has been Manooi’s conceptual partner from the outset, inspiring the designers with the brilliance of its crystal, so János and Judit then approached Swarovski with the idea of making a bespoke Artica-shaped crystal. János would design the shape and Swarovski’s skilled technicians would create it. The resulting Artica cut would embody the synergy between the two companies—a unique partnership, like two galaxies embracing. What better representation of Manooi’s success?

The Artica crystal decorates each of Manooi pieces to provide proof of authenticity. As a tribute to enduring partnerships and to a brilliant artistic vision, it’s the ideal embodiment of the philosophical foundations of the brand. If Artica isn’t part of it, it’s not a true Manooi.
